Is Love Island scripted? All the conspiracy theories that claim dating show is fake

Some Love Island fans have become convinced that the show is scripted.

Despite insistence from bosses that the Islanders make all of their own decisions about who to couple up with, some still think the show is rigged.

A few things that have happened this year have left conspiracy theorists scratching their heads.

And they've taken to Twitter in their droves to share their thoughts on whether or not the ITV2 dating show is for real.

Some felt that last night's challenge was made more dramatic by rigging results to show that Connor and Callum's heart rates were raised the most by new girl Rebecca during her surprise entry and sexy dance.

One fan wrote: "Connor and Callum’s Heart rates raised the most by Rebecca? Nah. That’s just the Love Island staff creating drama. Lies. Scripted"

Another posted: "This is so rigged, the other girls gonna go for the other Connor, so predictable it's scripted I'm convinced"

And another suggested: "Surely they know this is scripted to fit the producers storylines"

Others felt that Mike and Leanne's conversation during their date was a little off.

One wrote: "These scripted scenes...how would it have taken them this long to discuss where they're from in Ghana"

Some fans were left convinced of fakery when Ollie announced he was leaving the villa because he's still in love with his ex, amid a storm of backlash about him allegedly being a trophy hunter was happening on the outside world.

One tweeted: "That whole part about Ollie leaving was such a waste of time why did I hear the same scripted speech 4 times in a row??"

Another fan wrote: "LOOOL how SCRIPTED was that w Ollie telling the boys he has to go ?? he could’ve acted better"

And one posted: "So the producers knew to add 2 news boys on the day Ollie leaves, if that isn’t scripted idk what is"

Other fans simply miss what they referred to as the good old days.

One tweeted: "Love island needs girls like @jessicahayes77 again. Back then it was raw and real, real drama, real banter and there was never a boring day. Now it’s more like scripted reality tv I miss the good ol’ day"

However, Love Island bosses insist that whatever happens between the Islanders is up to them and them alone.

A spokesperson said: "The opinions they have and the relationships formed are completely within the control of the Islanders themselves."

* Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2
