Is Love Island about to welcome plus-size model Jada Sezer?

Love Island may be about to cast its first plus size islander in a bid to promote different body shapes.

Model Jada Sezer is rumoured to star on the show, which has previously come under fire for a lack of diversity.

Sezer – who describes herself as a “self-love advocate” – is signed to WILHELMINA models and last year ran the London Marathon in her underwear with journalist Bryony Gordon.

A source told The Sun: “Previous years have been criticised for a lack of diversity among contestants.

“This year producers are determined to have more variation among the Islanders. Jada would be a perfect choice because she is passionate about body positivity – and even appeared on Good Morning Britain in her underwear before running the marathon.”

A spokesperson for ITV said: “When casting for Love Island, we always strive to reflect the age, experiences and diversity of our audience and this year is no exception with a cross section of different personalities and backgrounds in the villa.”

The reports come hours after the broadcaster released a statement outlining its revised duty of care in the wake of the deaths of former Love Island contestants Sophie Gradon and Mike Thalassitis.

Gradon, who starred on series two, was found dead at her home in June 2018, while Thalassitis, who was on series three, took his own life in March.

This year’s contestants will be offered “enhanced psychological support” pre and post filming as well as eight therapy sessions on returning home and 14 months of support with additional help provided where necessary.

They will also undergo rigorous medical assessments and have access to help while in the villa. On leaving they will receive “bespoke social media training” and advice on finance.

The changes come after former contestants criticised the lack of aftercare, with Jonny Mitchell launching a petition calling for change.

Love Island returns to ITV2 on June 3
