Is Liverpool's Darwin Nunez €100m price worth breaking club records?

Benfica have confirmed they have reached an agreement to sell Darwin Nunez to Liverpool in a deal that could be worth up to £85m (€100m), ahead of Sadio Mane's expected departure from Anfield.

The Portuguese side informed the Securities Market Commission of the deal in the early hours of Monday morning. Nunez has been identified by Jurgen's key signing of the summer as it seems he will be without Mane and Taki Minamino when the football season gets underway again in August.

Nunez is predominantly a striker and attracted interest from Liverpool and Manchester United after scoring 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica last season, including 26 in 28 league games. The 22-year-old Uruguay international can also play on the left and behind the striker, which will offer Jurgen Klopp versatility across his attack next season.

The purchase will be the highest in Liverpool's history after Liverpool bought Virgil van Dijk for £75m in 2018. But do you think Liverpool should be signing Nunez at that kind of price?
