Is Lisa Dingle dead? Emmerdale fans heartbroken as beloved character dies just moments after wedding

Emmerdale fans were left in tears during tonight's episode as Lisa Dingle died following her wedding to Zak.

The well-loved Yorkshire Dales veteran had given loving but parting vows to her husband as she passed away.

Earlier this month, she revealed her diagnosis to daughter Belle, saying she had amyloidosis  - a condition  many viewers  had never heard of.

Lisa explained  it takes over your organs and can cause them to fail, and that while there is treatment available - hers hadn't worked.

The NHS says "Amyloidosis is the name for a group of rare, serious conditions caused by a build-up of an abnormal protein called amyloid in organs and tissues throughout the body.

"The build-up of amyloid proteins (deposits) can make it difficult for the organs and tissues to work properly. Without treatment, this can lead to organ failure."

One said: "Gonna cry when Lisa Dingle dies me."

Another wrote: "Why did they have to kill off Lisa ... I’m crying."

And a third said: "I’m a mess", followed by a crying emoji.

Speaking of her departure, actress Jane Cox said: "Lisa is so close to my heart as she’s been such a huge part of my life for the past more than 23 years.

"So I know I will shed more than a few tears when it comes to filming her final scenes.

"But I’m really looking forward to my return to the show to tell this story and to give the character of Lisa a deserving farewell. I will miss her."
