Is legendary Texans receiver Andre Johnson still fantasy football relevant?

Even though the inaugural Houston Texans Ring of Honor member has not played a down for the club since 2014, and his last season was with the Tennessee Titans in 2016, receiver Andre Johnson is still relevant in fantasy football.

How?

In PPR formats from 2008 to 2018, Johnson is still top-10 with 1,899.9 points, which is absurd considering the former Miami Hurricane has not suited up since 2016.

When Johnson was still in the NFL, many in the fantasy football community would draft the former Texan number one overall in most leagues in 2008 and 2009. Johnson’s stats those years were great; with 1,575 receiving yards in ’08, and 1,569 in ’09. Back then, it was hard to argue not drafting him in your fantasy leagues number one overall.

As the years go by, there will be many other great WRs that will eventually pass the former Texan great. Until that happens it is still cool fantasy football stat for Texans fans to appreciate.

So while Johnson isn’t relevant in terms of coming out of retirement and playing alongside DeAndre Hopkins with quarterback Deshaun Watson chucking him the ball, Johnson has set the bar pretty high for receivers in fantasy football.
