Is LeBron James teasing a return to the USA Basketball team in 2020?

The FIBA World Cup finally tipped off this weekend in China as the Kemba Walker and Donovan Mitchell lead the USA team as they look to repeat as the Basketball World Cup’s champs. And while Team USA cruised to a dominant win over the Czech Republic in their first game, everyone is still wondering who will play for the red, white and blue for next summer’s 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

One of those who everyone is wondering about is LeBron James, who hasn’t played for the National Team since the 2012 Olympics but hasn’t closed the door on playing in 2020. And James seemed to open that door a little bit more on Sunday night by tweeting about how much he loves playing for his country.

James, like most every other star player in the NBA this season, is prioritizing the coming NBA season over participating in the World Cup which runs up until the week before training camp begins. However, should LeBron and the Lakers have a successful season or even win the championship, taking home the gold in Tokyo would be a pretty special victory lap.
