Is Katie Taylor the greatest sportsperson Ireland has ever produced?

This is the debate on social media after the Bray woman became a two-weight world champion after beating Christina Linardatou in Manchester on Saturday night.

Taylor is fifteen fights undefeated since turning professional and followed in the footsteps of Steve Collins and Carl Frampton in being crowned a world champion in two different weight divisions.

You can also add in the fact that she won Olympic gold at the 2012 Olympics in London and was one of the most decorated amateur fighters in the history of the sport.

Not to mention that she played international football with the Republic of Ireland and the case is plain for Taylor to be considered the greatest sportsperson we have ever had.

Lots of sports stars and social media users believe she is on the top of the pile after her win on Saturday night:
