Is June 1 a key moment for Redskins and Josh Norman?

Would the Washington Redskins cut Josh Norman?

The only answer is “perhaps” at this point, though some salary details sure don’t hurt. As Spotrac points out above, a post-June 1 move would save the team a larger sum of cash, which might explain why the team hasn’t made a move earlier, if it intends to.

And at least one former Redskins player thinks Washington would be better off cutting Norman.

Whether the Redskins are this desperate for cash is tough to say, though they did just break the bank for Landon Collins. The depth chart doesn’t have much in the way of proven talent after him, but any team cutting a corner who is 31 years old to save droves of cap space wouldn’t be too surprising.

On paper, the Redskins might view Norman as a key piece to contention. On the other hand, they might feel the front seven is good enough to prop up whoever lines up at corner.

The reality is if a Norman move is in the cards, it was probably never going to happen before June 1.
