Is Jimmy Moreland Redskins’ most notable project player?

The Washington Redskins have done a good job recently in the later rounds of drafts.

Players like Trey Quinn — the supposed Mr. Irrelevant — and others have either had a big impact or figure to soon with upcoming expanded roles.

Defensive back Jimmy Moreland might be the next, especially considering some of the praise already coming from head coach Jay Gruden.

It makes sense, then, Moreland was the selection as the team’s most interesting project player by Brent Sobleski of Bleacher Report:

“For example, Washington Redskins cornerback Jimmy Moreland fell to the seventh round of April’s draft because of a slight frame (5’10”, 179 lbs) and a lower level of competition at James Madison. But an individual’s skill set is far more important than a potential physical shortcoming or where he went to school.”

The Redskisn do have some other interesting guys like B.J. Blunt and Kelvin Harmon who could fall into a similar category.

But Moreland is arguably more interesting because something as simple as size kept him from coming off the board higher. He also plays at a spot where he could break into a rotation.

Going into training camp, it’s hard to disagree with the idea Moreland is the most interesting developmental piece on the roster right now.
