Is it worth it? Made In Chelsea: Fit

Worth it: fit
Illustration: Son of Alan for the Guardian

What is it? You! Why aren’t you fit? Is it because you’ve been waiting for an exercise tape fronted by Lucy, Spencer, Binky and Proudlock, the “stars” of Made In Chelsea? Well, you’re in luck – they’ve made one.

How much does it cost? On Amazon, £8.88. Alternatively, 50p in most charity shops from about March.

What does it promise? Four workouts – Tabata, HIIT, toning and something called a “Chelsea morning power stretch” – performed by the clatteringly posh Made In Chelsea cast, plus 25 minutes of “exclusive behind-the-scenes and fun bonus features” on the off-chance that your life is so howlingly empty this sort of thing might interest you.

What’s it actually like? The Made In Chelsea cast aren’t natural presenters. They’re vague and awkward, as if they’ve just been blasted with animal tranquillisers. But the workouts are surprisingly comprehensive. The Tabata one was so full-on that I was worn out by the end of the warm-up. Even the Chelsea morning power stretch, as awful as it sounded, was a combination of yoga and Pilates that I (as a habitually lapsed stretcher) found pretty punishing. I hate myself for liking this DVD.

Best and worst bit The best bit is the Tabata workout. The worst bits are either the hosts, the borderline unwatchable bonus extras, the packaging in general or the aching, bone-deep sadness you’ll experience as you try to come to terms with the fact that there are people in this world called Binky.

Is it worth it? Look, if you must.
