Fire crews were left dealing with 'quite a sight' after 100 litres of foam was accidentally released at a commercial property in Yate.

Firefighters from Yate, Kingswood and Patchway were all called to attend the incident on Tuesday night (March 31), shortly after 11pm.

Avon Fire and Rescue said the foam was released following the activation of a protection system at the commercial premises.

Fire crews helped on-site staff to isolate the system, which had been activated accidentally.

A fire service spokesperson said: "At 11.11pm on March 31, crews from Yate, Kingswood and Patchway fire stations were mobilised to an incident at a commercial premises off Highway in Yate.

"On arrival, firefighters found the activation of a protection system which had released 100 litres of foam.

"Crews helped to isolate the system with on-site staff. The system had been activated accidentally."

Yate fire station tweeted: #yateoncall had a early morning call, on arrival we found a protection system had accidentally activated resulting in quite a sight!

"We helped isolate the system, all the foam was contained on site."
