'Is it 2001 again?' Leeds United fans react to Jonathan Woodgate's appointment at Middlesbrough

Another familiar face will return to Elland Road next season, as former Leeds United defender Jonathan Woodgate has been appointed as Middlesbrough's manager on a three-year deal.

Woodgate takes the step into his first managerial role alongside another name familiar to Leeds fans, as Robbie Keane has joined Middlesbrough's coaching team.

That continues an intriguing trend ahead of the 2019/20 Championship season, as former midfielder Lee Bowyer will also return to West Yorkshire in the opposition dugout after guiding Charlton Athletic to promotion from League One last term.

Naturally, that has emerged as a significant talking point for supporters and eyes will be cast to next week's fixture release to discover when these familiar faces will return to Elland Road.

Plenty of supporters have already been discussing Woodgate's Middlesbrough appointment on social media, with the general consensus being that seeing their former heroes in managerial roles is making them feel extremely old.
