IShowSpeed joins FIFA World Cup final entertainment lineup

Darren Watkins Jr., better known as iShowSpeed, has become one of the biggest internet personalities in the world.

While he first built his audience through gaming and livestreams, football has become a huge part of his content over the last few years.

He regularly travels to major matches, meets top players, takes part in football challenges and shares his reactions with millions of followers.

That strong connection with the sport makes this invitation different from a regular celebrity appearance.

Instead of choosing only singers and actors, FIFA has added one of the internet’s biggest creators to its pre-match show.

According to FIFA, the opening ceremony will feature Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams and iShowSpeed, while Jennifer Hudson will perform the United States national anthem before kickoff.

The World Cup final is scheduled for July 19 at New York New Jersey Stadium. It is expected to be one of the most watched sporting events in the world, making it the biggest live audience iShowSpeed has ever performed in front of.

FIFA has also confirmed that the tournament final will include the competition’s first-ever halftime show, produced with Global Citizen and curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
