If you're watching ITV's 'new' drama In Plain Sight and think it seems familiar that's because it's actually a repeat and was first broadcast a few years ago.
With a stellar cast led by Douglas Henshall and Martin Compston, the three parter is based on the atrocious real life killings of notorious murderer Peter Manuel who claimed the lives of innocent victims to goad Detective William Muncie, the man who put him behind bars a decade earlier for a series of sexual assaults.
It was first broadcast on ITV in December 2016 and received praise from both viewers and critics with the Telegraph describing it as "a good old fashioned scrap between right and wrong," and it winning the Royal Television Society Scotland best Drama award in 2017.
Informing his followers that In Plain Sight was being repeated and paying tribute to his director, Martin, best known to millions of Line of Duty viewers as Steve Arnott, tweeted: "‘IN PLAIN SIGHT’ led by the brilliant @djhenshall directed by the maestro @JohnStrickland6 on @ITV tonight 9pm"
Remembering it well, one of his fans replied: "Bloody loved this hated your character fantastic acting by you," and another told him: "Seen this twice but will be watching it a third time, bloody brilliant, chilling, sinister, great cast. TV at its best"
Another, who hadn't seen it before replied: "I’m definitely looking forward to watching this as I’ve never seen it before. It’s going to be interesting seeing you Martin Compston in a negative role.
"It’s also good to see your versatility of good and negative roles. Keep up the good work"
In Plain Sight will air on Monday, June 7, Tuesday, June 8 and Wednesday, June 9 at 9pm, with each episode lasting 60 minutes.
