The Friends reunion that aired last Thursday received a warm welcome reception but fans in Belfast are still talking about it non-stop thanks to two particular photos of Matt LeBlanc.
Images of the American star, who played Joey Tribbiani in the hit series, have inspired a raft of social media memes that have been circulating on Twitter ever since - because users say he is the archetype of your average Irish Da or uncle.
Nicola Coughlan of Derry Girls and Bridgerton fame even weighed in to joke: “Matt LeBlanc is Irish. I don’t want to see any other nation trying to claim him. He’s from Tullamore, he drinks milk with his dinner.”
Some fans were quick to point out that LeBlanc does in fact have a link to Northern Ireland.
He has been dating County Fermanagh native Aurora Mulligan since 2016.
They met on the set of Top Gear, where LeBlanc was a host and Mulligan was an executive producer on the BBC show.
One Twitter user said: “Never has a childhood of growing up in rural Ireland better prepared me for something more than it’s prepared me for this Matt LeBlanc being your uncle meme.”
Another tweeted: “I wonder if Matt LeBlanc knows about his meme status in Ireland.”
Sadly, Matt LeBlanc is yet to comment on the images of him that have been doing the rounds on social media, although Friends fans in Belfast are still holding on to hope.
