Is Farhan Akhtar all set to direct 'Don 3'? Here's what the 'Toofan' actor has to say!

Farhan Akhtar is all geared up for the release of his upcoming film, ‘Toofan’ which is set for an OTT release. In a recent interview, he opened up about his plans of taking over the directorial reins in the near future once again.

Spilling the beans on the same, Farhan told a news portal that he thinks about direction every time he finishes acting in a film. Although he did not name any specific project, the actor added that hopefully, in the near future, he will direct a movie.

After his last directorial, ‘Don 2’ in 2011, the actor has been focusing mainly on his acting career. However, reports of him planning for ‘Don 3’ have been doing the rounds forever now but the actor never confirmed any of those reports.

Akhtar made his directorial debut in 2001 with ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and followed it up with projects like Hrithik Roshan-headlined ‘Lakshya’ in 2004 and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Don’ in 2006.

Akhtar, who rose to spotlight as an actor with films like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and ‘The Sky is Pink’, said it's a struggle to refuse interesting acting opportunities. In an interview with PTI, Farhan said, "To a certain extent it is true that the director in me has taken a backseat because of the interesting parts I am being offered. I do feel lucky with the kind of work I've gotten to do over the years. When things come your way, it's difficult to say no because they're so exciting.”

Elaborating further, he added, "You have a design for your life but life has a design for you. So you have to find the right balance. But I have also been working towards my directorial (venture) while looking for acting opportunities.”
