Is Facebook broken? Social media shutdown as users complain they can't access apps

Social media apps Facebook , Instagram and Whatsapp have stopped working across the world.

Users are outraged after finding they can't post on their favourite sites because of an ongoing technical issue.

Punters are complaining that the apps are failing to load chat, contacts and feed and no one seems to be able to post anything online.

Bug reports suggest that virtually everyone is unable to get online in the UK.

The problems seemed at around 11.30pm today.

But now app users are flagging the issue throughout Europe, where the UK, Italy and Greece appear to be the worst affected.

Parts of Malaysia, Eygpt, Georgia and the USA have also shared their fury.

For some Facebook users the site is displaying an error messages.

It reads: "Oops... Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can."

It's unclear what has caused the mayhem but frantic users have flooded to Twitter to rant about the issue.

One user posted: "Facebook, messenger and Instagram are all down worldwide what the hell'?

A second wrote: "Get me on telegram! Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp down worldwide."

Another joked: "Yep...Facebook is down again. Welcome everyone to Twitter."
