Is Fabric London closing? Club deletes social media and boards up entrance in mystery shutdown

Fabric has sparked rumours of closure after boarding up its entrance and wiping its social media accounts.

The legendary Farringdon club has removed all trace of its previous Twitter and Instagram posts, and instead replaced its profile pictures with an all-black image.

The venue’s Facebook page appears to have been deactivated, while the club’s Resident Advisor page is still active, with future listings still shown.

It’s unclear as to whether the club could be facing closure in 2019, or if the latest movie is a publicity stunt for an upcoming event.

The move has had social media users speculating, with DJ Amelie Lens and the Boiler Room commenting about Fabric on Twitter.

The venue is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, having developed a reputation as one of the capital's most popular clubs.

Fabric was closed in 2016 after having its licence revoked, but later reopened after 160,000 people signed a petition to save the club as part of a public outcry.

The Evening Standard has reached out to Fabric for comment. More to follow.
