Dispatch, a so-called superhero workplace drama, is yet another piece of interactive fiction released by AdHoc Studio, now under its own guise and brand rather than Telltale.
The game brings along all the recognizable quirks we've come to expect from this team, including quick-time events, incredible storytelling, compelling characters, and, this time, animation that most TV shows can dream of achieving. But all of that is merely available on two platforms, PC and PlayStation 5, with fans left wondering if an Xbox or Switch release of the game is ever to come.
Thankfully, we have some information, so here's all you need to know about Dispatch on Xbox and Switch 2.
Will Dispatch release on Xbox or Switch 2?
As things stand, Dispatch is only available on the PC and PlayStation 5. The game is an interactive, cinematic experience, much more so than your average action-RPG or other story-oriented genre. This, then, makes it perfect for the PS, which has come to be synonymous with these "interactive movie" types of games, what with Sony's own first-party games of the type like Uncharted, among others.
However, Xbox isn't all too different from the PlayStation in essence, but has oddly been left out of the equation for the game's initial release. So is it ever going to launch on Xbox? It actually seems like it. In an interview with Insider Gaming, AdHoc's Narrative Director Pierre Shorette revealed that Dispatch will probably come out on other platforms at some point.
Asked about the game's PC and PS release, Shorette said PC was always going to be counted in, and that the PlayStation is associated with games like Dispatch, making it a natural decision to release on that platform. But, "that’s not going to say that we’re not going to eventually come out on those platforms," Shorette added, indicating Dispatch could launch on both the Xbox and Switch 2 at some point in time.
When that will be is yet to be revealed.
So, it seems like it's going to be a waiting game for Xbox and Switch fans, who will have to either get the game on these existing platforms or be steadfast for the foreseeable future until the game branches out.
Dispatch is set to release all of its episodes by Nov. 12, after which a potential port could be expected, with my predicting an early 2026 release date if not before that.
