Is Conor McGregor going to fight again? Has The Notorious retired?

Conor McGregor has not fought in the UFC since losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov last October and it remains to be seen if will be seen in the Octagon again.

Earlier this year he announced his retirement from the sport, but now looks set to return.

He tweeted in March: "Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today. I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition. I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!”

But just ten days later he appeared to have performed a U-turn.

He said: "I want to move forward, with my fans of all faiths and all backgrounds. All faiths challenge us to be our best selves. It is one world and one for all. Now see you in the Octagon."

And speaking recently, UFC president Dana White said he believes the Dubliner will fight again either this year or early in 2020.

He told TMZ: “I think he’ll be back either this year or early next year. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out in September.”

McGregor is desperate for a rematch with Nurmagomedov, but the undefeated Russian insists he doesn't deserve one.

He said in June: "The last three years he has only one victory and amateur boxing. How does he deserve a rematch?

"He tapped. He begged me, 'Please don't kill me.' Now he's talking about a rematch?

"Tony Ferguson [is] on the line. People who have win streaks [are] on the line. But not the guy who don't win nothing the last three years."

Another possible bout for McGregor is Donald Cerrone, but White has ruled out a bout between the former two-weight champion and Jorge Masvidal.

White said: "There's plenty of fights for him in his weight division without Conor.

"He's too big for Conor, Conor doesn't belong at 170... Hell no."

"He shouldn't have [fought at welterweight against Nate Diaz twice in 2016], and I hated that he did it, not only did I hate that he did it once, I hated that he did it twice."
