Is Colt Mccoy a better option than Nick Foles for Redskins?

The Washington Redskins might end up having an interest in Nick Foles now that the Philadelphia Eagles will let him hit free agency.

Or the Redskins could simply choose to fall back on Colt McCoy.

For now, it sounds like the Redskins are falling behind the Jacksonville Jaguars in the pecking order for Foles and don’t mind sticking with McCoy by comparison:

While Foles would certainly be a good option for the Redskins, it would all depend on price. The Redskins don’t have a ton of financial wiggle room thanks to the Alex Smith contract — not to mention they would probably like to keep some impending free agents of their own such as Preston Smith.

McCoy hasn’t impressed yet as a starter in the NFL, making Foles easily the better choice if we take money out of the equation.

Unless Foles has a softer-than expected market, McCoy probably is the better option for that reason alone. If that’s the route the Redskins go, some rookie competition on one of those cheap deals isn’t a bad way to go.
