Is Chloë Sevigny the most casual bride... ever?

In recent years, the case has certainly been made for the low-key bride.

Whether it’s a Zoë Kravitz-inspired cycling shorts ensemble, or a retro slip from RIXO’s recently-launched inaugural bridal range, it seems that brides are paring it back with outfits they can re-wear once the Big Day is over.

It should come as little surprise then that queen of cool Chloë Sevigny scaled it back for her secret wedding last year to her long-term boyfriend, art dealer Siniša Mačković, which she marked the one year anniversary of earlier this week.

White for a bride? Forget it. Ever the sartorial rule-breaker, the Oscar-nominated actress sported a figure-hugging black dress, tights and block-heeled boots for her Big Day look.

To inject a touch of tradition, Sevigny sported a white veil and clutched a handful of Baby’s Breath flowers, which Mačković similarly sported in the lapels of his black blazer.

Sevigny revealed via her Instagram post that she married her long-time boyfriend on March 9, 2020 when she was heavily pregnant with their now 10-month-old son. Rumours had started swirling that she had married Mačković when she was pictured wearing an unsurprisingly simple wedding band out and about.

Speaking to the Standard recently, the New York-based actress revealed, “I always struggle with having low self-esteem. I have struggled with my confidence. I think because of my It girl persona, a lot is projected on to me from people in the industry and perhaps that gets in the way of considering me for roles.”
