ChatGPT was reportedly experiencing major disruption on Monday.
The generative chatbot displayed error messages such as “Error in message stream” or “Hmm ... something seems to have gone wrong,” according to blue News.
OpenAI confirmed that it was “currently experiencing issues”.
“We have identified that users are experiencing elevated errors for the impacted services,” OpenAI said. “We are working on implementing a mitigation.”
Many users joked about the outage on social media, hinting towards the panic caused by the disruption.

ChatGPT went down several times throughout last year, with a major outage affecting the bot, its API, and the Sora video generator for several hours.
On the other hand, we were able to use ChatGPT through Siri on iPhone - suggesting the service isn’t completely offline.
In addition, Downdetector detected a spike in users reporting problems using the platform.
Chat GPT has free and premium modes and can have human-like conversations with users, answering questions and completing tasks. It can also be used to write code, which has made it indispensable for many working in IT.
Alan Morrison, who lives in Walthamstow, told the Standard that the site had been working for his job as a computer developer but he had known disruption before. “I use it for coding, writing emails and admin tasks,” he said. “It would be very annoying if it was down.”
The programme launched in November 2022 and the premium mode went live in February.
