Is Broadchurch a repeat or new series on ITV? Hit drama returns to screens

No, your eyes are not deceiving you, that is Broadchurch on your TV guide, back in its primetime slot on ITV.

The drama series that had the nation hooked for three gripping series between 2013 and 2017 returns to screens on Monday night, much to the delight of its fans.

One of the most talked about shows of the past 10 years, Broadchurch was a huge ratings success, pulling in close to 10 million viewers for each episode, and one of those programmes that got people from the get-go.

If you have never watched an episode, firstly - where you been?! - and secondly, to briefly summarise, Broadchurch is centered around the repercussions the death of young Danny Latimer, which rocks a tight knit Dorset community.

We'll not reveal any spoilers here but the final episode of series 1 left people absolutely gobsmacked and it is series 1 rather than a new series that will kick of on ITV on Monday, June 8.

Sorry to disappoint! But even if you've seen it before, it's well worth a second look.

The Broadchurch cast includes David Tennant and Olivia Colman and a synopsis for episode 1 reads "Out-of-town DI Alec Hardy investigates the mysterious death of an 11-year-old boy in an idyllic seaside community, aided by local girl DS Ellie Miller, who has her work cut out dealing with her unyielding new boss.

"Meanwhile, the sadness of losing their child consumes Beth and Mark Latimer as they and the other residents of Broadchurch try to cope with the media frenzy surrounding the case."
