Is BBC medical drama Casualty back this weekend?

BBC Saturday night medical drama Casualty is back after a four-week Christmas break where no episodes were aired.

The show finished with a two-part Christmas special which saw Welsh actress Suzanne Packer back in her role of Nurse Tess Bateman.

Now the show is returning with new characters and promising drama on Saturday, January 8 on BBC One at 9.30.

Casualty has not been aired since Saturday, December 11 and the new episode will introduce viewers to a new character F1 doctor Paige who will be played by Shalisha James-David.

Elsewhere in the show, Faith played by Kirsty Mitchell is looking to give love another go and Ethan, played by George Rainsford, is considering his future as a father.

2022 will also see the end of Casualty's sister show Holby City which will air its final episode in March 2022 as the BBC has cut the show from their schedule and future plans.

Casualty will begin in 2022 on Saturday, January 8 at 9.30pm on BBC One.
