Is Battlefield REDSEC crossplay?

Battlefield 6 battle royale has finally arrived, and if you’re wondering about the availability of the Battlefield REDSEC crossplay feature so you can squad up with friends on other platforms, here’s everything you need to know.

Built on the powerful Frostbite engine, Battlefield REDSEC is a free-to-play game that went live globally on Oct. 28. The mode showcases the signature Battlefield chaos, complete with destructible environments, dynamic weather, and intense combat across land, sea, and air.

Staying true to its roots, REDSEC includes familiar Battlefield elements such as classes, gadgets, and weapons, along with new mechanics fine-tuned for battle royale. Up to 100 players (either as 25 squads of four or 50 duos) face off across Fort Lyndon, the franchise’s largest and most detailed map yet.

If you’re planning to drop in with friends on other systems, here’s how Battlefield REDSEC crossplay works.

Does Battlefield REDSEC have crossplay?

Yes, REDSEC fully supports crossplay across PC and current-generation consoles. Players on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam or the EA App) can all play together by default.

According to EA’s official REDSEC announcements, the game was designed from the ground up for cross-platform matchmaking, ensuring a unified player base across supported systems. Console players, however, can opt out of crossplay if they prefer to avoid matches with PC players, while still maintaining crossplay between PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

How to disable Battlefield REDSEC crossplay

Crossplay is enabled by default, but REDSEC uses what EA calls “console-preferred crossplay.” This means that if you’re playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, the matchmaking system will first try to pair you with other console players before expanding the search to include PC players if needed.

If you’d rather limit your matches strictly to console players, you can easily disable crossplay by following these steps:

  1. From the main menu, open Settings (cogwheel icon).
  2. Navigate to System.
  3. Under the Setup section, find Crossplay and toggle it off.

Does Battlefield REDSEC have cross-progression?

In addition to crossplay, REDSEC also features cross-progression with Battlefield 6. When you log in using the same EA account across multiple platforms, your progress and unlocks carry over seamlessly. Shared content includes:

  • Career Rank
  • Hardware unlocks – Weapons, gadgets, throwables, training paths
  • Hardware progression – Attachments, vehicle loadout items, camos, weapon packages
  • Customization items – Soldiers, soldier skins, camos, charms, decals, player profile Backgrounds, icons, dog tags
  • Badges
  • Battle pass progress

This unified system means that any progress you make in REDSEC applies to Battlefield 6 as well, provided both are linked to your EA ID. It’s definitely a welcome feature for players who switch between platforms or plan to play both modes regularly.
