Is Banksy back in Edinburgh? New anti-Olympic street art appears in Leith

Mystery is surrounding a piece of anti-Olympic street art in Leith which appears to be the work of the world famous Banksy.

The art first seems to have been spotted yesterday (Tuesday) in a close on Bernard Street – close to the traffic lights at The Shore.

The graffiti depicts a hooded figure carrying the green Olympic ring away with the remaining red, blue, yellow and black rings left together in the background.

The five rings are designed to represent the five continents – Europe, Asia, Africa, America and Australia.

Previous similar Banksy works have popped up around the UK showing the same hooded figure running off with a different Olympic ring each time.

Speculation has long surrounded the meaning behind the works – with a number of competing theories out there.

Earlier this year some pro-EU Banksy-style artwork appeared in the same close on Bernard Street. This depicted a man throwing a bouquet bomb.

What do you think about this latest piece of street art? Is this the work of the world famous Banksy? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
