Is Baker Hughes Stock Outperforming the Dow?

With a market cap of $38.7 billion, Baker Hughes Company (BKR) is a leading energy technology firm based in Houston, Texas. It operates through the Oilfield Services & Equipment (OFSE) and Industrial & Energy Technology (IET) segments.

Companies worth $10 billion or more are generally described as “large-cap stocks,” Baker Hughes fits the bill perfectly. The company stands out in the energy sector due to its diversified business model, combining traditional oilfield services with advanced industrial and energy technology solutions. Its global presence, deep expertise in drilling and completion, and leadership in LNG, hydrogen, and carbon capture position it strongly for both current energy demands and the energy transition.

However, Baker Hughes touched its 52-week high of $49.40 on Feb. 6 and is currently trading 21% below that peak. BKR stock has slumped 6.7% over the past three months, trailing the broader Dow Jones Industrial Average’s ($DOWI) 3.5% rise during the same time frame.

In 2025. BKR is down 4.9%, lagging behind $DOWI’s marginal climb. However, BKR has returned 21.1% over the past year, surpassing Dow Jones’ 10.6% gain over the same time frame.

While BKR has traded above its 50-day moving average since the past three trading sessions, it has remained under its 200-day moving average since early April.

On June 10, Baker Hughes shares climbed over 2%, benefiting from a broader rally in energy stocks driven by WTI crude oil reaching a 2-1/4 month high.

Baker Hughes has outpaced its top rival Schlumberger Limited’s (SLB20.6% dip over the past year and 6.9% fall in 2025.

Among the 23 analysts covering the BKR stock, the consensus rating is a “Strong Buy.” Its mean price target of $47.88 suggests a 22.7% upside potential from current price levels.
