Is Asda open on Easter Sunday 2019?

Forgotten to pick up some shopping? With two bank holidays during the Easter weekend, supermarket opening and closing times can be confusing.

Asda, and all other supermarkets, will not be open today. Then, on Easter Monday most Asda stores will open at the usual time but may close earlier, at around 8pm.

For instance, the Swansea superstore will open between 7am and 8pm on Easter Monday.

But Asda store opening times can vary from place to place so it's always best to visit storelocator.asda.com before setting off to the shops.

If you're stuck, it's worth remembering that the smaller Tesco Metro and Express stores, as well as the smaller Sainsbury's shops, tend to operate their usual opening times (usually around 7am-11pm), even on bank holidays, so that's your best bet if you're stuck.

The law on trading hours says shops over 280 square metres:

  • can open on Sundays but only for six consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm
  • must close on Easter Sunday
  • must close on Christmas Day
