'Is anyone ever gonna think about helping the spin bowlers?': Tabraiz Shamsi raises questions over IPL's two bouncers per over rule

NEW DELHI: South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi has raised concerns regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL) permitting two bouncers per over for the first time this season. He questioned whether similar consideration would be given to aiding spinners through potential rule changes as well.

Shamsi took to X (formerly Twitter) to raise the question. Replying to a post, Shamsi wrote, "Is anyone ever gonna think about helping the spin bowlers out too with some sort of rule changes?"

This IPL season marks the first time ever that two bouncers are permitted per over. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had increased the number of bouncers allowed in ODIs to two per over in 2012, but it remained at one for T20Is.

Shamsi has appeared in just five Indian Premier League (IPL) matches throughout his career, representing Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and has claimed three wickets.

In his international career for South Africa, Shamsi has played two Tests, 51 ODIs, and 65 T20Is, accumulating a total of 156 wickets.
