Irvine Welsh TV series Crime unveiled in first-look trailer of Glasgow-filmed show

The first trailer for upcoming Scotland-set TV series Crime has been unveiled ahead of its premiere next month.

The release of the six-part series, which is based on Irvine Welsh's 2008 bestselling novel of the same name, will mark the first time one of his books has been adapted for TV.

It stars Scottish actor Dougray Scott - known for his roles in Mission: Impossible 2, My Week with Marilyn, and Desperate Housewives - as Detective Inspector Ray Lennox, who investigates the disappearance of a schoolgirl whilst also battling his own demons.

Rounding out the cast are Joanna Vanderham as DS Amanda Drummond, Angela Griffin as Trudi Lowe, Ken Stott as Chief Superintendent Bob Toal, and Jamie Sives as Detective Inspector Dougie Gillman.

Crime will be available to stream as a boxset exclusively on BritBox from November 18.

It will be set in Edinburgh, though filming for some scenes was reportedly carried out in Glasgow earlier this year.

The novel is a sequel to Welsh's 1998 book Filth, which was previously adapted into a film starring James McAvoy in 2013.
