Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh has posts the first picture of his new drama Crime, which is being filmed in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The six part series is based on the novelist's 2008 Filth sequel and is set in Edinburgh.
Teasing fans, Welsh posted the photo, asking fans: 'is this the new Taggart?'
Crew were spotted shooting scenes near Kelvingrove Park last month, with a picture showing three people in white forensic suits and masks and a gazebo set up nearby.
The drama follows Ray Lennox, a detective from the Lothians, who attempts to get over a mental breakdown by taking a holiday to Florida with his fiancee, the Daily Record reports.
However, events over there soon reminded him of the child murder case in Edinburgh that caused him to suffer the breakdown in the first place.
The series stars former Taggart, Desperate Housewives and Mission: Impossible 2 Dougray Scott as DI Ray Lennox.
It also has former Corrie and Holby City actor Angela Griffin, as Ray’s fiancée Trudi Lowe.
Meanwhile, Ken Stott, who’s best known for starring in TV crime dramas Messiah and Rebus, as well as playing dwarf Balin in The Hobbit film trilogy, stars as Chief Superintendent Bob Toal.
The cast also includes Joanna Vanderham (Warrior, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) as DS Amanda Drummond, and James Sives (Guilt, Too Close) as Detective Inspector Dougie Gillman.
Irvine showed off a picture of the castmembers and said: 'Here’s the #Crime crew. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of them, I guarantee you soon will."
Fans were thrilled to see the picture and one wrote: "Is this The new Taggart?"
Another said: "Dougray Scott & Ken Stott, class!"
And another added: "When i read Filth imagined Ken Stott as Bruce. Happy to see he's involved here. looking forward to this a lot!"
Another eagle eyed fan added: "The office they are standing in is the old office I used to work in at Argyll House."
Filming for the six-part series began in Edinburgh and Glasgow on April 29 and is expected to take 12 weeks.
Crime will air later in 2021 and is scheduled for autumn or winter.
The series will be exclusive to BritBox subscribers.
