Irvine Welsh is playing a DJ set in Leith during the Edinburgh Fringe

Trainspotting fans at the Edinburgh festival have a rare chance to see author Irvine Welsh, but not in the setting you'd expect.

The writer is performing a DJ set  in the capital on Saturday, August 3 at the The Old Dr Bells Baths in Leith.

The party will start at 8pm at the Great Junction Street venue and last until 1am.

It's part of the EH6 festival's showing at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The venue says: "Irvine Welsh comes back to Leith to this stunning new venue to play his favourite songs and party on."

There's a chance to win a pair of free tickets until July 8 if you enter The Old Dr Bells Baths' Facebook competition here.

Welsh, 60, recently played a Dj set at the Eden festival in June.
