Irvine Vics give squad and manager update following Brian McLuckie's departure from hotseat

Irvine Vics are confident there will be no shortage of applicants for the vacant manager's role following Brian McLuckie's sudden departure from the hotseat.

McLuckie and No2 Mark McCann resigned from their posts last night after a disagreement with the club's commitee over pre-season friendlies.

The duo's shock exit leaves Vics facing a frantic search for replacements with the West of Scotland League season due to kick off on July 17.

They also have several pre-season friendlies arranged over the next few week's starting with a trip to Sanquhar on Saturday to play South of Scotland League outfit Nithsdale Wanderers.

Vics match secretary David Loach is confident the club will have no problem finding a successor.

He said: "The last time the manager's role became vacant I had a pile of applications on my desk the following day.

"Applications are now open and any interested parties please get in touch by email via davidloach14@googlemail.com."

Mr Loach also revealed that the vast majority of the squad are under contract for next season.

"We will speak to the players going forward," he added.
