Dougie MacDuff is convinced his first win as Irvine Vics boss isn’t far away.
A 3-1 defeat at Arthurlie on Saturday means the Westenders have now gone seven league games without victory since MacDuff took charge last month.
But the 54-year-old insists his side were desperately unlucky not to have taken something against the unbeaten West of Scotland League Conference A leaders.
And he reckons recent performances point to his players turning the tide soon.
He said: “I just feel we’re getting to the point where something has got to give.
“I felt we were the better side against Arthurlie in the second half and it’s taken a late penalty for them to put the game beyond us.
“We’ve been playing well recently and improving with each game but basic errors have been costing us.
“I can’t fault the boys’ attitude, they’ve been absolutely excellent."

Vics are back on league duty tonight when they host Girvan and MacDuff admits playing twice a week since the start of the campaign has been a help rather than a hindrance despite results.
"Because we came in so late and had to build a team we didn't have time to let the boys gel or settle before the start of the season.
"Playing Wednesdays and Saturdays has helped us in that regard.
"I always said it would take us some time to find our feet because we are a new team but we’re getting there.”
“We've a a couple of big games coming up and the boys are desperate to get those first points on the board.”
Kick off at Vics Park tonight is 7.15pm.
