Irvine's maritime museum plays host to a traditional seaside festival

Irvine’s Maritime Museum will play host to some traditional British seaside fun this weekend.

Punch and Judy, a Helter Skelter, coconut shy and delicious ice cream are just some of the highlights of the Seaside Festival which will open in the Museum Courtyard and Linthouse on Irvine Harbourside on Saturday.

Attractions and activities will also include seaside games such as Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Hoopla and Test of Strength.

Vanilla Joe’s Ice Cream Cart will serve up Victorian Penny Lick ice creams and Class Cocktails will pour non-alcoholic Victorian drinks. Museum staff will welcome everyone in Victorian costume too.

The fun runs from noon to 4pm and three children go free with each paying adult.

There’ll also be seaside crafts and activities for the two days running up to the Seaside Festival.

Tickets booked online at scottishmaritimemuseum.org have a 20 per cent discount.
