Irvine police probe cash raid on Scottish Maritime Museum

The Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine was targeted by thieves at the weekend.

Museum staff told the Irvine Herald that some cash had been taken and damage had been caused to a window and office furniture during the break-in.

A spokesperson for Irvine Police said: “Police can confirm that they received reports of a break-in that occurred over the weekend at the Scottish Maritime Museum’s office on Gottries Road, Irvine.

“At this time a quantity of cash has been stolen. Police attended and enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.”

Anyone with information should call Police Scotland via the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where anonymity can be maintained.
