Irvine Meadow skipper says heroics at Beith will count for nothing if they can't beat Rossvale tonight

Irvine Meadow captain Ben Carson insists Sunday's heroics against Beith will count for nothing if they can't beat Rossvale tonight.

Carson netted his first goal of the season as 10-man Meadow conjured up a remarkable 2-1 West Premiership win at Bellsdale.

Now he's looking for Meadow to use the result as a springboard to consistency - starting with the visit of top flight new boys Rossvale this evening.

He said: “It’s about time I started scoring so it was nice to get a goal.

“I thought the character we showed was excellent.

“It was a big performance and a big three points.

“We were running on empty towards the end but it was never going to be easy with 11 men never mind 10.

“We need to use this to kick on. If we don’t win on Wednesday it’s a bit of a wasted effort."
