Irvine Meadow seal deal for Lowland League striker using old pals act

Colin Spence has revealed how an old pals act paved the way for striker Del McNab to join Irvine Meadow.

McNab, 29, completed a switch from Lowland League outfit Broomhill just in time for last Saturday’s West of Scotland League clash against Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

And Medda co-boss Spence revealed how Broomhill boss David Gormley – a former team-mate of his at Auchinleck Talbot – tipped him the wink about the frontman’s availability.

Spence said: “Davie and I keep in touch and pass on notes about players.

“Davie knew we were looking for a striker and recommended Del. He wasn’t going to get game time at Broomhill so we managed to get a deal done quickly.

“Del comes to us at a good age and with experience of playing at a decent level. He has got a great work ethic about him and we’re delighted to have him.

“We needed to strengthen after Jamie Martin’s injury. We’ve been asking a lot of Connor Boyd up top recently.”
