Irvine Meadow close in on deals for TWO goalkeepers

Irvine Meadow hope to have two new goalkeepers in by the end of the week.

Co-bosses Colin Spence and James Latta have spent the last fortnight frantically searching for a replacement for Shaun Newman who quit to start a new job down south.

There are currently no keepers on the books but Spence this week confirmed he is close to signing a goalie with senior experience.

And he is also targeting a quickfire swoop for a second keeper to provide competition for places.

”I would like to think we will have at least one if not two in by Friday, he said.

“We are in a fortunate position that we have two talented young keepers in our U20s set-up and the hope is to get them featured in the first team squad at some point.”

“But I feel a club the size of Irvine Meadow should always have two keepers to fight for the gloves.”

“I want to keep my cards fairly close to my chest just now but one of the players we’re after has senior experience.”
