Irvine Meadow benefit from Auchinleck Talbot pals act as midfield ace becomes latest signing

Colin Spence reckons Irvine Meadow have weakened another Premiership rival with the signing of his old Auchinleck pal Kyle Faulds.

The 28-year-old midfielder completed a move from Cumnock last week to become Medda’s fourth new arrival of the summer.

And co-boss Spence –a former Talbot teammate of Faulds – reckons they’ve landed one of the best in the business.

He said: “Kyle is someone we tried to bring in a year ago when Cumnock decided to sit out the season.

“We got him in for training around Christmas and he really enjoyed it. He was always in our thoughts and we’re absolutely delighted to finally bring him on board.

“He was a mainstay at Cumnock and it’s always nice when you manage to take one of your rivals’ best players. We feel we did that too when we signed Michael Wardrope from Hurlford.

“Having played alongside Kyle at Talbot I know exactly what he will bring to the team. He was in the middle of the park with me when Talbot played Hearts in the Scottish Cup.

“He knows what it takes to win leagues and cups and at 28, he comes to us with a good deal of experience. That’s something we’ve been looking to add in key areas.

“He’s the kind of midfielder who likes to dominate the ball. “

Spence hopes to add one more new face to his squad ahead of their pre-season campaign kicking off on June 19.
