Irvine Meadow announce new management team and return of former player as coach

Irvine Meadow have appointed Colin Spence and James Latta as joint managers - replacing Brian McGinty in the hot-seat.

The duo took interim charge at the weekend as Meadow lost 3-0 away to derby rivals Kilwinning Rangers.

Both men revealed afterwards that they wanted the job on a permanent basis.

And tonight their wish was granted as the Meadow committee appointed them permanent successors to McGinty, handing them a deal until the end of next season.

They will be assisted by former Medda player David Gillies who takes on a coaching role.

Meadow confirmed their appointment in a statement on Facebook tonight.

It said: "We are thrilled to have Colin, James and David on board as our new Management Team.
They have a contract till the end of season 20/21."

Both Spence and Latta now expected to hang up their boots once Meadow's current injury crisis has eased.

Spence said after Saturday's game: "We've certainly got enough experience.  We've both played at this level for 15, 16 years.

"We know the Premier League. Our contacts are in the Premier League and we know the teams and players.

Latta added: "Obviously we're going into the twilight of our playing careers,  he said.

"I think if we take the job we will probably have to stop playing.

"You can't combine both - it's two hard. Especially at a big club like Irvine Meadow."

It's maybe not bad time to get it.
