Irvine residents in KA12 postcodes are experiencing power cuts in their homes.
At around 3.30pm, the power went out in some areas and disruption is expected to last until 5.15pm.
SP Energy Network updated its website and said: "There is power cut in the KA12 area of Irvine. We had no advance warning of this and only became aware of it at 3.15pm.
"Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely to restore power in stages, and our emergency response team are on their way to the area to investigate and repair the fault. Our team will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 5.15pm."
One Stewart Drive resident said: "The power just cut off, there is no internet, lighting and my phone is also affected.
"I managed to call my daughter but it was really difficult to hear her. It's a big power loss in the area and a worry for our elderly neighbours."
