Irvine club units and empty shopping centre go unsold at auction despite clocking up bids

The former Forum building and Celtic social club in Irvine failed to drum up enough bids to sell at auction yesterday afternoon.

The retail unit, where the shutters were pulled down in 2016, had a guide price of £350,000 although raised £379,000 in bids.

However, it remains unsold following the Shepherd Commercial Auction which took place online.

For the right price, the winner will own a huge 29,139 sq. ft property including; all 46 trading units in the empty shopping centre, the now disused former Lyrics nightclub, No 1 Celtic supporters social club, staff and customer toilet facilities, management offices and storage space.

The property, advertised on Rightmove, is described as being a prime retailing area.

"Significant town centre redevelopment opportunity with the potential to generate significant additional rental income from two vacant properties," added the description.

The auctioneer said, "there is still good business to be done" with regards the property which generates £15,600 per year from the Celtic social club lease.

The sale comprises the former Forum Centre together with the now disused former Lyrics nightclub and the club leased by Irvine No 1 Celtic Supporters Club.
