Irvine boxers in knockout fight night fundraiser for charity close to promoter pal's heart

Five Irvine boxers shook off more than a year of ring-rust to help a promoter pal raise money for a charity close to his heart.

Ross Buchanan, Robert Morrison, Daniel Dempster, Nathan Finnie and Jordan Dean pulled on the gloves on Saturday at a fight night organised by former boxer Alec Mullen Jnr.

The event – in aid of the Scottish Huntington’s Association – was 15 months in the making after a number of postponements due to the Covid pandemic.

And the fighters made it worth the wait with some brilliant bouts in front a packed house at Troon concert hall.

Alec, whose brother in law Darren Clark tragically lost his mum to Huntington’s in 2018, said: “We raised £1,000 for Scottish Huntington’s Association on the night through a raffle and auction.

"Every show I do, I will be raising some funds for this amazing charity.

"Thanks to everyone who bought tickets and to all the sponsors, especially Tyson McAlister of AMT coachworks who organised the event.

“It was a brilliant night and a fantastic way to raise awareness."

Alec has plans for another boxing show on December 3.
