Irvine and Kilwinning drivers warned over weekend road closure

A weekend road closure is set to impact on Irvine and Kilwinning drivers.

The A737 between Dalgarven and the Rail Bridge will be closed for essential maintenance from 8pm on Friday, December 4 to 6am on Monday, December 7.

A signed diversion route will be in operation and local and emergency vehicle access will be maintained throughout the work.

Routine maintenance work to resurface the carriageway at the A737 at Wilsons Auction Mart will be incorporated into this work on  December 4, 5 and 6 between 7pm and 7am, each night.

Northbound traffic will travel west through Byres Road, Townhead and then follow the A738 to Stevenston Road to reach Pennyburn Roundabout.

From here, vehicles will join the westbound A78 to Sharphill Roundabout, and continue on the B714 to Kilwinning Road.

Traffic will turn right to stay on the B714 to Hillend Roundabout, where it will re-join the northbound A737.

Southbound traffic will follow the same diversion in the opposite direction.

Amy, who are carrying out the £194k  works, say it will improve the condition of the carriageway for the 8,000 vehicles who use the route each day and reduce the need for more extensive maintenance in future.

The work may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
