IRPC vows to stamp out corruption

IRPC Plc, a petrochemical arm of national oil and gas conglomerate PTT Plc, has announced zero tolerance of corruption, a major hindrance to national economic development and business progress in the private sector.

The company wants all employees to be equipped with new technological knowledge and work practices that ensure good governance.

Human resources development is a key component of both economic development and business growth, said Chawalit Tippawanich, president and chief executive of IRPC, as he yesterday led the company's top management and executives to make an anti-corruption pledge at an online event.

Participants vowed to have IRPC subsidiaries, including those in petrochemical, power generation and marine transportation segments, take good care of the environment, a global trend in the post-pandemic era, as well as stick to good business practices.

Safety regulations will be among priorities in IRPC's oil transportation service while its flagship power firm, IRPC Clean Power Co, will maintain its reliable power generation system.

IRPC's power generation capacity was expected to increase from 247 megawatts in 2017 to 317MW next year.

To expand its businesses, IRPC also pays heed to human resources development, especially introducing staff to a range of modern technological know-how.

"We have opened training courses to reskill and upskill our employees. The courses include topics in the electric vehicle sector," said Mr Chawalit.

They need to develop their knowledge, along with a stance against corruption.

IRPC's anti-corruption campaign is in line with Section 63 of the 2017 constitution which states the government is obliged to educate people and raise their awareness to the threats of corruption and malfeasance.
