Irn-Bru superfan unmasked as child sex pervert who preyed on schoolgirls

An Irn-Bru superfan has been unmasked as a child sex pervert.

David Laing was found guilty by a jury at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week of abusing two young girls.

The 39-year-old - who appeared in an advert for the soft drink - abused one girl at an address in Airdrie and another in Motherwell.

Both youngsters were just 14 when the creep preyed on them in 2002.

Two further charges against the Motherwell pervert were found not proven and sentence was deferred for reports.

Laing hit the headlines in 2016 when he was recruited by Barr to play a role in one of their adverts.

The company contacted them after learning of his obsession with the fizzy drink.

He has amassed a hoard of memorabilia in honour of his favourite drink and even has tattoos of cans on his legs.

Laing played the role of a camper who had run out of his favourite juice in the advert.

A drone whirred into action, picking up a supply from the factory floor and flying it directly to his tent.

At the time he said: "People probably think I’m quite sad."
