Irn Bru makers give out a lorry load of water bottles to workers at NHS Louisa Jordan super hospital

Irn Bru makers AG Barr have donated a lorry-load of water bottles to thirsty workers at a Scots super-hospital being built to tackle the c oronavirus crisis.

A truck emblazoned in the famous orange Irn Bru logo arrived at NHS Louisa Jordan in Glasgow today.

But instead of handing out the ginger, a quarter of a million bottles of the firm's Strathmore water were given out to construction and NHS staff.

The giant hospital is being set up inside the Scottish Events Campus (SEC) in Glasgow, to help ease the strain on other medical centres amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Over 750 contractors and NHS staff have been working to create the make-shift new clinic since March 31.

It will have an initial 300 beds which could expand to hold more than 1,000 patients if required.

A tweet from NHS Louisa Jordan said: "AG Barr have donated 250,000 bottles of Strathmore water to our NHS staff and construction workers at the @NHSLouisaJordan- thank you for the generous donation!"

An AG Barr spokesman said: "We’re all very grateful and appreciative for everything the NHS is doing right now, and if we can play our own small part by donating some Strathmore water to the NHS Louisa Jordan, then we’re more than happy to do so."
