Irn Bru jokes they are looking for M&S's lawyer over 'copycat' blue and orange trainers

We've all been gripped with the UK showdown of the caterpillar cakes as Marks and Spencer's Colin takes on Aldi's Cuthbert over the past week.

In case you've somehow missed the debacle, M&S has lodged intellectual property claim with the High Court against Cuthbert. You only need to take a quick glance at social media to see that the fallout has been dramatic, with plenty pledging their allegiance to a side of the great caterpillar cake divide.

But now it looks like the drama could be taking a Scottish twist...as Irn Bru looks to get involved in the product-thievery debacle.

The makers of Scotland's favourite soft drink has jokingly asked for M&S's lawyer, pointing to a picture of a pair of Yeezy shoes that are emblazoned with the trademark blue and orange Irn Bru (or Irn Shu) colours.

In a tweet, Irn Bru said, "Does anyone know the lawyer Marks & Spencer is using?" before linking to a picture of the Yeezy Boost 700s in bright blue.

And it sounds like the urge to lawyer up might be spreading, with Tango offering split the difference of the lawyer fees, as they joked that they would be Adidas Yeezy's for their own Tango-inspired colour palette.

The company said: "Hey @irnbru, we'll go halves on the legal costs...", with a link to the offending trainers.

Shoe retailer Foot Asylum was quick to offer up a solution, saying, "We’ve got a spot on our shelves if you want to release your own Irn-Shu".

In fact, it turns out there's plenty of products utilising that famous blue and orange colour combo. The gauntlet has most definitely been thrown.
